Acute inflammation of the epiglottitis (Acute Epiglottitis) is a serious bacterial infections disease which is usually caused by a bacteria called haemophilus influenza. It causes severe obstruction and swelling of epiglottis.
It usually affects children between 2 to 6 years old. The infection can happen rapid and suddenly which causes the children to have a high fever and difficulty swallowing food, within the first few hours. The children will have painful throat, saliva will flow out of their mouths, and they will start suffering from stridor and shortness of breath.
